HONKA uses only wood from straight postured Finnish
Polar Pine, which grows in the clean and renewable forests of Finland
near the artic circle. Only the best quality, mature trees are
selected.
After harvesting the trees, the logs are kiln dried
which helps prevent undesirable twisting, warping, or checking.
All HONKA logs utilize the same wedged log
techniques. The bottom of the log has sharp machined wedges that fit
tightly in the top of the log underneath. The energy efficiency and
tightness of HONKA’s patented wedged logs has been further improved by
developing wedged notches into cross corners. These product
improvements make HONKA’s walls approximately three times more energy
efficient than traditionally scribed walls.
Formed HONKA round logs hive the finishing touch to
the appearance of a HONKA Log wall. When a round log is planed flat by
the windows and doors, it improves the fit and appearance of the
decorative trim work and enhances the efficiency and beauty of your
home.
